◼️ The World Turns Its Eyes to Dubai: Live Broadcast in 150 Countries, Spotlight on Forever Young
One of the most prestigious events in global horse racing, the Dubai World Cup returns this weekend for its landmark 30th edition, once again taking center stage on the international scene. The spectacular meeting, set to take place on Saturday, March 28 at Meydan Racecourse, boasts a total prize fund of $30.5 million and will be broadcast live to audiences in more than 150 countries through a record 40 broadcasters.
Recent geopolitical tensions in the Middle East have also been among the key talking points in the lead-up to the event. Security concerns in the region and disruptions in airspace created occasional uncertainty, particularly affecting the travel of international teams and horses, with some flight cancellations and logistical challenges reported. However, Dubai Racing Club has clearly emphasized that the event will proceed as scheduled, with no changes made in line with the global prestige of the Dubai World Cup.
A Global Event with Record-Breaking Coverage
Organized under the leadership of Dubai Racing Club, the event has reached its widest international distribution to date through collaboration with Racecourse Media Group and HBA Media. The Dubai World Cup night will feature on major global broadcasters such as ITV, Fox Sports, ESPN, and Viaplay, while also reaching vast audiences via international media outlets including CNN and Reuters. In this sense, the event will unite millions not only at the racecourse but also in front of screens worldwide.
Dubai Racing Club CEO Ali Al Ali described the 30th running as a significant milestone for both Dubai and international racing, highlighting that the scale of global broadcast reach is a clear reflection of the event’s worldwide impact.
All Eyes on Forever Young
The standout contender this year is Japan’s superstar Forever Young. Coming off a commanding victory in the Saudi Cup, the five-year-old arrives at Meydan in peak condition. Should he capture the Dubai World Cup, he will achieve a historic feat by completing a trio of the world’s most prestigious dirt races—alongside the Breeders’ Cup Classic and the Saudi Cup.
Following his final preparations under trainer Yoshito Yahagi, the horse is reported to be in excellent condition, while jockey Ryusei Sakai noted that he is in even better shape than he was heading into the Saudi Cup. Yahagi’s primary concern, however, remains the possibility of rain on race day, which could alter track conditions.

A Star-Studded Card
The Dubai World Cup meeting promises top-class competition across the entire program. World-ranked leader Calandagan, Breeders’ Cup Turf winner Ethical Diamond, and International Stakes champion Ombudsman headline the supporting races. Meanwhile, last year’s Dubai World Cup winner Hit Show is once again expected to challenge the favorites.

A Historic Scenario in the 30th Year
Since its inaugural running in 1996 with Cigar, the Dubai World Cup has evolved into one of racing’s most iconic events. Its 30th edition now sets the stage for another potential chapter in racing history, with global attention firmly fixed on Forever Young’s performance.
Another notable detail is that Hasret Delice, representing Yarış Dergisi, is the only Turkish journalist attending this year’s Dubai World Cup on site. Delice will be providing exclusive insights, behind-the-scenes coverage, and live updates directly from Meydan.
